Baby Health
Baby Health is a non-profit organization that provides free medical care to children from birth to 12 years of age who do not have access to a medical card or Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program (KCHIP). Lexington Clinic Foundation's funding will provide nearly 3,000 children with asthma medication they may not have received otherwise.
Lexington Rescue Mission
Lexington Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization that works to meet the physical and emotional needs of hurting people in the Lexington area. The Mission helps to prevent homelessness, teaches skills to allow men and women to become self-sufficient and provides food and clothing as well as health services. Lexington Clinic Foundation's support will provide eye exams, glasses and dental care for hundreds of needy people in 2010.
Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky
Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky (PCAK) is a non-profit organization and is the Commonwealth's only statewide child abuse prevention organization. PCAK works to prevent the abuse and neglect of Kentucky's children by developing and promoting effective strategies and programs through community involvement, public education and advocacy. Lexington Clinic Foundation's support will provide eight on-site Child Abuse Recognition Education (C.A.R.E.) training courses to targeted medical facilities and their staff working within Fayette County. These training courses provide peer-to-peer presentations on the signs and symptoms of child abuse/neglect.
Faith in Action: Elder Outreach
Faith in Action: Elder Outreach is a non-profit organization that works to help elderly patients remain independent in their homes and delay placement in long-term care facilities as long as possible. Research has indicated that fear of falling is one of the reasons older people leave their houses. Lexington Clinic Foundation's support will provide for the development of curriculum and educational materials as well as assessment instruments to be used to train volunteers in a community-based Fall Prevention Program. It also provides educational materials for care recipients and families, as well as training implementation.
Camp Horsin' Around
Camp Horsin' Around is a non-profit organization that is working to provide a camp facility specifically designed and equipped to enrich the lives of children with serious, chronic illnesses and physical difficulties. Lexington Clinic Foundation's support will help to build a dining facility so children have a safe and health regulated place to eat and enjoy indoor activities. With 3 cabins, a medical center and open air pavilion already complete, the dining facility is the final critical facility that must be completed before the camp can open. Lexington Clinic Foundation's funding will ensure that ill children have the camping experience of a lifetime.
